Before anything else, a huge congratulations to everyone who participated in the Global Game Jam. I am still feeling the tiring after-effects of getting 7-8 hours sleep over two days, but, as I'm sure everyone at the Jam can attest, it was well worth it!
Here our games; bask in their glory!

It was hard, and I'm sure we'd all do things slightly differently next time, but I hope everyone who went enjoyed it, and I really hope some friends were made in the process.
If you did come to the Jam, post a quick comment about what you thought. It'll help us make it better next year, and hopefully get even more people to participate!
Cheers,

P.S.: Here are some photos taken of some participants. Special thanks to AJ Fraser for taking them. There's also video coming soon!
I KNEW that you would use that picture of Matthew on the front page of the site.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Global Game Jam 2010 was awesome! Thanks for inviting me down to participate! I just wish I knew more about making a game in general... would have made those 48 hours a little easier. I guess that means it's time to get to work and start practicing.
Can't wait for Global Game Jam 2011!
Thanks Again!

I really enjoyed working with everyone, and I look forward to collaborating again in the future. We didn't get time to finish the MMO aspect this time around, but maybe at the next game jam we can leave an extra hour for that.
ReplyDeleteI always learn a lot when trying to piece together a game with a deadline looming. Some lessons (re)learned this time around:
1. Features always take longer to implement than you think they will.
2. Minimizing your bottlenecks will make things go smoother. With a couple hours before the deadline, the bottleneck was me, which could perhaps have been avoided f we'd figured out a more collaborative workflow from the start.
3. Make sure the missiles move faster than the player does (it was working with the old ship, I swear!)
4. The Comfy Lounge is decidedly not comfortable. Okay, I learned that in my first year, but every sleep in there reconfirms that the name is simply a cruel joke.
It took me a moment to realize that it's not a photo of Brad Pitt on the front page. Handsome guy.
